Rest in Peace Jen Angel

Jen Angel has passed away. This is devastating to me. She was well known in the Oakland area as owner of Angel Cakes Bakery, but I knew her from zine stuff here in Ohio. I did not know her well but met her a few times years ago when the Allied Media Conference was still in Ohio. She was always so real with me. I’ve never met a purer, more direct soul in my life, and she influenced me to start making zines in the first place. It’s crazy to me how someone I barely knew could have such an impact on my life; on my creative outlook and sense of responsibility to others. She truly was a kind, caring, community-minded person who made a difference in this world. She was a grand person who recognized and exemplified the inherent diginity in people. I hope there is due justice to her attackers. Heartful condolences to her friends and family.

The whole entirety of a woman’s life is GRUELING, the only time we have free of our biology is childhood pre-periods. After menstruation begins it’s a wrap. And to add insult to injury we now live in a time where […]
