Civil Engagement Requires Critical Thinking Skills

Trula Earthgarden

Margarita Satini was a civil activist for Utah’s Pacific Islander community. She passed away from Covid-19. May she rest in peace, and may her activism inspire us all. The world requires us to be civically engaged, indeed.

I keep drilling this into my students’ heads. You need to learn to think critically. THAT is why you must take math and science…yes, you’re probably never going to use differential equations (or whatever) in your life or cellular biology (you will remember that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell lol) BUT learning about these things helps you to understand both math and science generally and to also look at things from different aspects or viewpoints. Most importantly to understand F A C T S while analyzing opinion within your societal and cultural framework. If you cannot do either, you’ll be much less likely to understand and participate in the world including making changes that improve your local community.

The whole entirety of a woman’s life is GRUELING, the only time we have free of our biology is childhood pre-periods. After menstruation begins it’s a wrap. And to add insult to injury we now live in a time where […]
